TWO DAYS & ONE NIGHT WAEREBO TOUR
Wae Rebo Traditional Village has received the Top Award of Excellence from UNESCO in the 2012 UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage Awards.
Wae Rebo is a small, very out of the way village. Situated on around 1,100 meters above sea level and approximately 2 - 3 hours travel by foot from Denge Village. Wae Rebo is completely surrounded by panoramic mountains and the dense Todo forest which is rich in vegetation, where you will find orchids, different types of ferns and hear the chirping of many songbirds. There is also no mobile coverage in this village, and the electricity is only available from 6 to 10 pm. The air is relatively cold, especially in the dry season. The village offers visitors a unique opportunity to see authentic Manggaraian Traditional Houses and to experience the everyday life of the local community.
To get to Wae Rebo we will pass through Cunca Plias Waterfall, Lembor (Spider Web Rice Field) and Repi Beach and have a short break there. After 5-6 hours of driving we will arrive at Denge Village and we will have lunch and final preparation before we start trekking to Wae Rebo. The trekking to Wae Rebo usually takes 2-3 hours. At the village we will be welcomed by the local community who will also show us a place inside a traditional house to spend the night. Dinner starts at 7 pm and after that we can wonder around Mbaru Niang to get closer with the local community.
On the next day we will have breakfast at 7 am and after that we start trekking back to Denge Village. On our way back to Labuan Bajo, we will stop by Lembor for lunch. When we arrive at Labuan Bajo at 3 pm, we can visit Rangko Cave and then after that going back to your hotel.
